The Hyundai HX35AZ, HX40A and HX48AZ compact excavators

Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas is expanding its HX-A series with the introduction of three compact excavators.

Hyundai debuted the HX35AZ, HX40A and HX48AZ compact excavators at ConExpo in March.

“Contractors will find the right combination of power, performance and operator safety and comfort in Hyundai’s three new compact excavator models,” said Adam Ford, Product Manager at Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas.

“These machines represent a new generation of compact excavator technology built on decades of engineering and manufacturing excellence.”

The three new models join the compact excavator lineup, which collectively earned a coveted, international 2022 Red Dot Design Award, honouring the best industrial designs.

Hyundai’s award was based in part due to the distinctive tiger eye styling of the rear lights, demonstrating that form can go hand in hand with function. The rear lighting design integrates with the overall larger cab design and expanded visibility from the large, curved windows.

All three new models feature Tier 4 Final compliant, low-emission engines.

HX35AZ compact excavator

The Hyundai HX35AZ compact excavator is powered by a Kubota D1703 diesel engine with a net power rating of 24.8 hp.

The HX35AZ has an operating weight of 3,765 kg, a dig depth of 2.95 metres, and bucket breakout force of 3,212 kg.

HX40A

The HX40A features a Yanmar 4TNV88C engine rated at 37.4 hp.

The machine has an operating weight of 4,300 kg, dig depth of 3.4 metres, and bucket breakout force of 4,466 kg.

X48AZ

The X48AZ HX48AZ is also powered by the 37.4 hp Yanmar 4TNV88C engine.

The compact excavator has an operating weight of 4,950 kg, dig depth of 3.5 metres, and bucket breakout force of 3,730 kg.

The HX40A and HX48AZ offer standard load-sensing hydraulics, while the HX35AZ and HX48AZ incorporate zero-tail swing for efficient operation in confined spaces. All three models include adjustable auxiliary flow, 127 mm full colour LCD monitor, and a new auto-safety-lock function preventing unintended use of a machine.

All three compact excavators will be offered in both canopy or cab models along with the choice of standard or four-way dozer blade.
