Today, the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario announced an investment of over $1.5 million for TS Manufacturing Company, a Lindsay-based, family-owned, ‘one-stop shop’ manufacturer of quality equipment for the forest products industry worldwide.

This investment will allow TS Manufacturing to obtain advanced manufacturing equipment to expand production. This will help the company fill a need in the market by offering automated solutions, such as a first-in-the-world robotic lumber sorter, to small- and medium-sized customers that have been traditionally under-served by equipment manufacturers.

“When we invest in Canadian manufacturers, like TS Manufacturing, we are directly increasing Canada’s potential and economic growth. This first-of-its-kind innovation fills a gap in the lumber industry, strengthens Canada’s competitive advantage, and drives growth in the local economy—and our Government could not be prouder to be investing in this future together,” said The Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

Also, the Government of Canada claims this project will boost local supply chain spending, reduce waste in lumber production and strengthen the regional economy in Lindsay and the Kawartha Lakes.

This funding will help bolster the success of the manufacturing industry in the Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough regions and create economic growth for years to come.

TS Manufacturing is a major employer in the region, with more than 100 staff. This project will add an additional 10 skilled jobs.

“We’ve experienced significant growth over the past few years and this funding allows us to scale-up our production capacity to meet demand for our solutions,” said Kris Smith, VP of manufacturing at TS Manufacturing Company. “We are investing in advanced equipment and expanded infrastructure which will create jobs and allow us to produce the highest quality machinery for the sawmill industry. We are pleased to have the Government of Canada’s support for this project; it is a fantastic way to celebrate our 50th anniversary and look ahead to our future.”
